TORC student members mentor many of the Daniel Axford Elementary JrFLL teams. We also provided judges and staff for the Daniel Axford/Oxford Elementary JrFLL Expo in March of 2013.
“Team #12 has been having practices for the last month on Thursdays after school. Drew (TORC student mentor) has been at the practices and has been very helpful. 2012, TORC presented FIRST and demonstrated its robot at a day long, “Share Your Talents” day. These demonstrations spurred an increase in JrFLL teams at Oxford Elementary School.
Clear Lake Elementary School
2015: 9 teams

TORC is mentoring three of Clear Lake Elementary’s JrFLL teams. Teaching students about simple machines, TORC student mentors assist the children with Lego construction. TORC will also be offering their assistance as Clear Lake hosts a JrFLL Expo in April.
Leonard Elementary School
2015: 3 teams

2013: Leonard Elementary Principal, Paul McDevitt, and two Leonard students visited theTORC pre-bag practice event and took advantage of an opportunity to feed the “Ultimate Ascent” robot discs. Leonard Elementary has now established JrFLL teams in 2013. They recently participated in the DA/OES JrFLL Expo, where TORC judged.
2012: 2 teams; In 2012, Leonard Elementary students visited TORC’s facility and saw the robots and students in action. They expressed a desire to have robotics in their school.
TORC demonstrated it’s robot at the Leonard Elementary School assembly in 2011. This increased awareness of FIRST and an excitement to have teams at Leonard.
